Hi all.  I'm sure there is a thread like this somwhere, but since I'm newish to the group I thought we should have another round. :)

I was currious what song got you all hooked on Michael.  Was it one inparticular song, a series of hits or just his voice in general?

For me, it was hearing the song "How Can We Be Lovers."  on the radio in 1990.  I was 10 and a half years old.  The song was awesome, but that voice hooked me right off the bat.  Most of the songs my parents played around the house were classical music or ultra easy listening Barry Mannilo stuff so this voice was such a departure to anything I've heard before.....or since, really :).

I would listen to the radio station for hours waiting to hear that song....then my parents bought be my first tape player/recorder and I recorded that song and his future singles from that same local radio station.  I was hooked.  I would stay awake late at night and listen to Cacey Kasum top 40 and then Rick Dees weekly top 40 and get so excited when I saw how much his song had climbed and wait for interviews with him and record them on my tape player :)

I saved up my lunch money from school to buy "Soul Provider," because his music fed my soul more then lunch.  My soul food so to speak. :). Soon enough "Time Love and Tenderness" came out and my parents bought me this one so I wouldn't skip lunch :).  My best friend, who conviently lived next door to me, would come over and listen to the album over and over.  So much infact, that our mutual neighbor offered to pay us to stop playing it :).  No deal made.

We were now both hooked and wanted to join the fanclub listed on the album so we BOTH saved our lunch money up and signed up :) I still have the giant button that came in the mail somplace....maybe she took posession,  I don't remember.  :)  Those were the days :). Those days turned into years.....20 and still counting.

His voice today still has that "it" factor about it and he still writes those songs that move me.....His latest album is getting just as much play time as "Time Love and Tenderness" did, and the new neighors arn't knocking my door down, so maybe I've converted a new fan.

Hi again Lady Berlin, it’s wonderful to hear that you already got another friend to enjoy Michael’s music! Michael said in  an interview last year that he was going back to Germany this year, so just keep an eye on the “Events” page, to see when new dates are added.

http://michaelbolton.com/events/event/listUpcoming

As soon as dates are confirmed, they are put on the list. Sweetie, if you do see him in concert, it’ll be even better than all the videos you can find, because Michael always manages to make it special and just hearing that voice coming at you directly: you’ll be hooked! :D You know, it sounds like there’s a need in Germany for what we call in America “adult contemporary” music. I’m sorry to hear you don’t have that in Germany. There’s nothing wrong  with talent shows: honestly, the contestants sing more decent music that you can hear in half a day on pop radio, in general. I do enjoy some pop, but the stuff you hear today is not music we’ll remember 15 years from now. I’m with you about folk music in general: not my cup of tea, if you get my meaning. I did enjoy the link you gave me, really nice! German pop sounds like something I could handle. Well Lady Berlin, it was really nice talking to you, thank you so much for sharing. :D Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

Even Orrin Bolton is a great music. Congratulations.

Hi Erika, do you know Orrin's music? :D I love his music and he's a very nice man too. Take care sweetie. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi Sylvie,

I really like it. Michael's mother is a beautiful woman and has had some great kids. I wonder how was the father. Too bad there are pictures of George Bolotin.
I would like to see if it looked like Michael.

Hi Erika, if you could ever find pictures of Michael and his dad, they'd have to be in the 1970's, because according to an article I've read, he passed away in 1981 and though his health was poor, he followed Michael around to his shows all he could. I'm really glad you enjoy Orrin's music and Helen is a sweet firecracker of a woman too. Take care Erika. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Dearest, about the photo of the father of Michael, I have searched everywhere, but they are not. I knew who died in 1981, but have not found anything on the internet. There are many who are called George Bolotin, but do not have to do with our Michael.
I'll try again.
You hug. Erika.

HI ERIKA!  I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YEARS FOR A PICTURE OF MICHAEL'S FATHER  I HAVE YET TO FIND ONE  I HAVE SEEN PICTURES OF MICHAEL'S MOTHER, BROTHER, CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN AND EVEN HIS EX WIFE MAUREEN BUT NOT OF HIS FATHER OR SISTER SANDRA   I HAVE SEEN A PICTURE OF SANDRA AS A CHILD BUT NOT AS AN ADULT  I KNOW HIS FATHER PASSED AWAY IN 1981 AT THE AGE OF 69 BEFORE MICHAEL MADE IT "BIG"  IF YOU FIND ANY PICTURES OF MICHAEL'S  FATHER PLEASE SHARE

GLORIA

I must have misread. I thought Mr. Bolotin died in 1965. Gosh. 69 is young, really. I wonder what happened. I wonder, when Michael does his autobiography, if there will be pictures including his dad. I know George was really sports minded & Michael is too. Loved it that Mr. Boltotin followed him to his concerts when he could. Boltonnut fro L. A. CA who loves life.

Hello dear Gloria, I know those pictures are unavailable. You should ask Michael! :)
But do not despair. Sooner or later we will find something.
Thanks for everything!
With lots of love.
Erika.

Hello Payten, my name is Erika, I was born in Italy but grew up between Boston and Dublin in Ireland.
Michael Bolton I discovered thanks to my Aunt Lynette who has always lived in New Haven, as we all know the birthplace of Michael.
She loves Michael and has always collected his records and CDs.
I was just a kid when I did listen to the voice of Michael Bolotin, who sang with the Blackjack. My first song was "My World is empty without you." I fell in love immediately and then growing up, I followed his career. In 1996 I was with my aunt at Pavarotti and friends where I was excited to hear our Michael singing "Nessun dorma and Vesti la Giubba."
With all the respect that other artists deserve, but Michael was great and best of all.
Thanks for letting me tell my story.
A big Hug!!!!.
Erika.

Hi Erika! Thanks for sharing your story with us. We hope you'll visit often!

Anna (in MO)

Hello dear, but certainly I have just registered and I'm still exploring.
Thanks for welcoming me.
I embrace you with affection.
Erika.
